Mary Ann Choby, DMD, MS - Endodontics with a gentle touch.
Root Canal Therapy

A root canal is a highly specialized dental procedure that becomes necessary when the soft inner tissue, or pulp, of the tooth becomes damaged or diseased, which can be quite painful. A root canal rids the disease from the tooth and relieves the associated pain. Endodontics is the dental specialty devoted to root canal therapy.

Endodontics With A Special Touch
When your dentist says ‘root canal’, you have nothing to fear. I’ll help restore your teeth and preserve your precious smile.

The Art and Science of Endodontics
There are many services and techniques used in our office to diagnose and treat damaged teeth to restore them to full and healthy use. Root canal therapy is the most frequently needed service performed in our office and involves creating an opening in the crown of the tooth and then cleaning and shaping the root canals with special instruments into a form that can easily be filled. The canals are filled with a permanent filling, and then a temporary restoration is placed in the crown. After a brief time, your general dentist will complete the final restoration of your tooth.

Other services include apical surgery when it is sometimes necessary to access the tooth’s canals at the root tip rather than through the crown. Dental implants are another service provided for teeth that cannot be saved through root canal therapy.
Our office uses the latest in technology to provide you with efficient, effective and the most comfortable care. Some of our tools include digital radiography to reduce radiation and to get the most accurate x-ray images, an endodontic microscope to increase the efficiency of the procedure, and laser technology for more comfortable adjustments to gums when needed.
